With a new government, a huge number of new MPs in Westminster, and a possible security review on the horizon, this is an important time to dialogue with your MP about alternative ideas for creating better security policy.

Join us for an interactive session that will offer you new tools for building engagement as well as a chance to meet and share with others in the Rethinking Security network.

More Information

We’ve recently welcomed a new cohort of MPs to what is the most diverse parliament yet. Now is the time for people across the UK to unite and send a shared message to their politicians – that citizens all over the UK care about a just and peaceful world with sustainability at its heart.

Whether your MP is newly elected or returning to parliament for another term, we know that building relationships with them is crucial. Whether you’ve met your MP countless times, or have never engaged in any form of democracy, Hope for the Future are excited to be offering training to the Rethinking Security network, which will walk you through a step by step guide to:

  • Understanding parliament and what your MP can actually do to rethink security
  • Learning more about your MP
  • Setting up a meeting with them or getting in touch another way
  • Presenting a compelling case for action
  • Crafting your ask and ensuring you leave with a commitment

This event will be carried out in Zoom’s meeting format so there is plenty of opportunity for discussion and sharing. Come with any questions you have or successful experiences you want to share, or simply come to listen and learn.

Closed captioning will be enabled. If you have any other accessibility requirements please email fergus.lamb@hftf.org.uk and we will do our best to accommodate.

Hope for the Future is a climate and nature charity with a vision of UK communities and politicians working together to secure a healthy planet for all. To achieve that, we train and support citizens across the UK to develop constructive relationships with politicians, countering the ‘us and them’ narrative that gets in the way of meaningful democratic engagement and political progress.
