Security matters to everyone, but much that governments do in its name is making us all less safe, at home and around the world. It’s time for a rethink – here’s why in 90 seconds…
Our goal is to help shift the public and political narratives in the UK about what security is and how it is best created, challenging existing approaches and fostering confidence in alternatives.
Our aims are:
- To create debate about current approaches to security – in communities across the UK, in educational settings, in the media and in the political arena.
- To challenge the assumptions, interests and values that underpin current security policy, and highlight its failings.
- To highlight the wide range of perspectives on security, giving particular attention to those who feel most vulnerable, marginalised and insecure as a result of current approaches.
- To offer ideas and suggestions about how policy could change in order to build a more just and peaceful world for all.
You can read our article on The Case for a Human Security Strategy to learn more about how and why we are working with people and politicians to try and radically change the UK’s approach to security policy.
Please do what you can, wherever you are, to get conversations going about national and global security. Find out how to get involved! And sign up for our newsletter to get regular updates on our work.
