Security matters to everyone, but much that governments do in its name is making us all less safe, at home and around the world. It’s time for a rethink – here’s why.

Rethinking Security is a network of organisations, academics and activists working in the UK for an approach to security that can better meet everyone’s needs, from the local to the global level.

We want a richer public debate about what security really means for people and planet. So we are developing new ideas and working with others to call for a national security strategy that prioritises:

  • global relationships based on cooperation and solidarity, rather than domination;
  • a global economy which serves the needs of all, rather than the greed of the few;
  • flourishing, inclusive societies that value the well-being of each person and each community;
  • urgent action to prevent ecological catastrophe and ensure sustainable use of the earth’s natural resources.

Please do what you can, wherever you are, to get conversations going about national and global security.
